CHALLENGE ► items unused

Published January 14, 2012 by Nicoco

Question!
What do the following items have in common?

If you said they’re make up items I always forget to use, you’d be right.

So, I decided that I would keep them on my dresser to try and encourage me to reach for them more than others for a while.

Starting from top, going clockwise:
Skin79 BB Cream: When I first got this (after a hell of a lot of trouble, thank you German Customs), I loved the crap out of it. I really wanted to pale down my skin, and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, it’s very heavy coverage, and I started pulling away from it in favour of foundations that offered more build-ability.  I also gained more confidence in my pale-olive skin tone and felt washed out when wearing it. Now I’m just looking to finish it.

MUA Bronzer in Shade 3: I bought this because it’s a matte bronzer I thought I could use for contouring.  I can, but I underestimated how often I forget to contour. But hopefully I can keep using it and get into a habit of contouring.

Topshop Lipstick in Rumour Has It: I really like both of the lipsticks that were in Topshop’s A/W collection and bought both of them. I probably could have included Pillow Talk in this challenge, now that I think about it. But Rumour Has It is a neutral/nude-brown lipstick that works with loud eyes, I think.

Model’s Own Lipgloss in Golden Nude: To go with Rumour Has It, mostly. I managed to get this while Model’s Own were doing their promo with Diet Coke. Okay. So I totally bought the Coke to try the lipgloss. Shh.

Art Deco Blusher in Shade 11: Like the BB Cream, I loved this when I got it. But I think my style’s evolved beyond wearing such loud blusher. I’m sure I can figure out how to use it up, though.

Diorshow Iconic: I actually still use this quite a lot! But I recently bought 17’s Peep Show Mascara and just want to be sure that I don’t forget that Iconic still exists.

MAC Gel Eyeliner in Blacktrack: I so blame UD’s eyeliner in Rockstar for this. But I’ve been cutting back on the heavy black liner quite a bit (you know, until Perversion is released by itself and I live in it). So I want to use this before it dries.

Barry M Dazzle Dusts: I have about… 8? 9? of these. Which I continually forget to use. I did try to use Pink Gold and Peacock together… it didn’t go well. But I chose the two most neutral colours I own from them (and forgive me, but I cannot remember the names because Barry M uses a number system on the actual jars. :|)

Brightening Primer: I don’t remember who made this – most of the info has faded off it – but it’s basically a cheaper version of eye primers like Lemon Aid.

Shiseido Eyeshadow Single: Yup. More “love ’em and leave ’em” products. It’s a darker brown which I just. Need to finish because there are so many eyeshadows in my stash RN.

Benefit’s The Porefessional: I’m actually not a huge fan of this primer, which is strange because I adore all that Benefit chooses to be. Can’t quite place why – it does reduce pores and make my skin smoother, but I don’t really enjoy using it, when I have my Face Magnet Primer by Pop instead.

Benefit’s Thrrrob Blusher: I kind of threw this and Dallas to the back of my stash a while back, but having it out again reminds me how much I adore it. I hit pan a while back and am just waiting to finish the product up completely.

I guess this is kind of my version of  Project 10 Pan. But I haven’t placed a spending ban yet. I don’t think I could.

I am using other products with these, but trying to concentrate on these lot more for daily use than I have recently. Hopefully it will make way for some more space in my make up drawer, and maybe even kindle some love for some unloved products (or rekindle, in the case of Thrrrob).

This post was brought to you by one of my Christmas Presents: Mr. Owl the necklace! Isn’t it cute?
